Easy! One click to set appropriate "Date" Format

Let's say I want to create this table

f:id:skn_0410:20160211064759p:plain

The initial view resulted in below.

f:id:skn_0410:20160211071900p:plain

Tableau's default is "year".

f:id:skn_0410:20160211063155p:plain

Try open "+" mark

f:id:skn_0410:20160211063213p:plain

f:id:skn_0410:20160211063245p:plain

Not good...

f:id:skn_0410:20160211063437p:plain

Mont honly displayed on the middle and cannot be seen.

Try "Exact Date" which brings original data's format.

f:id:skn_0410:20160211072253p:plain

f:id:skn_0410:20160211072341p:plain

Oh, Tableau says I did something wrong....

f:id:skn_0410:20160211064400p:plain

But it's still mid-process.

Chnge it to "Discrete"

f:id:skn_0410:20160211063843p:plain

f:id:skn_0410:20160211072517p:plain

Nop, it has "Time" information which I don't need now.

K, try next.

f:id:skn_0410:20160211064508p:plain

f:id:skn_0410:20160211064553p:plain

Finally done....

f:id:skn_0410:20160211064759p:plain

By shortest process,

Date ==> More ==> Custom ==> MDY ...  Still troublesome.

Then, TIPS!!   I'm afraid that nobody read through this part, anyway..

Drag "Date" field WITH PUSHING RIGHT SIDE OF MOUSE

f:id:skn_0410:20160211065220p:plain

Now you can select from the whole list.

Let's play around and Enjoy!
